Change in our Administrative Team

Dear Godfrey-Lee ECC Parents and Students:

Mrs. Robyn Fisher has notified me that she is taking another position and will not be returning to the ECC as principal following the Christmas-New Year break.  This was a difficult decision for Mrs. Fisher but the position she accepted in another school district is one she had been hoping for some time. We wish her the best of luck and thank her for the time she invested in our children over the past three school years.

I am pleased to announce that Mr. Jay Dekker will be stepping into the ECC principal position for the rest of this school year. Mr. Dekker is a retired teacher and successful elementary principal who served in a similar interim role last year in a nearby school district. When he retired in 2011, Mr. Dekker had taught in special education and elementary classrooms for twenty-two years before serving as an elementary principal an additional seventeen years. He is well qualified and is very familiar with our district.

Mr. Dekker will be serving as interim principal until the end of the school year. Later this winter and spring, we’ll be conducting a search for a new permanent principal for the 2014-15 school year. For the time being, I am excited and feel fortunate to have Mr. Dekker step in and I know he is anxious to meet students, parents and staff first thing Monday morning.
